Main Performances
SCX has produced several variants of the Renault 8 over the years, including:
Renault 8 Gordini: The iconic sports version, usually executed in the characteristic blue with two white racing stripes. Known for the Monte Carlo Rally (#89) and classic circuit races.
Renault 8 TS: Released in various color schemes (such as yellow/black and red/white). There are also rarer limited editions made, such as for the Fira Vic Slot Classic fair in Catalonia.
Technical Characteristics & Performance
Engine & Drive: Standard equipped with a compact inline RX-42 or RX-41 engine (approx. 14,400 to 18,000 RPM). Thanks to the relatively high weight of the engine compared to the narrow carriage, the car remains surprisingly well on the track.
Lighting: Most of the SCX Classic models of the Renault 8 feature working Xenon headlights and taillights.
Road behaviour: Because of its narrow and high track width, it is not the fastest racer on the track, but he is known among hobbyists for his fun factor. The car invites controlled drifts (power slides) into the corners.
Compatibility: The car is completely analog and runs smoothly on tracks of SCX, Scalextric, Carrera and Ninco
The SCX Renault 8 (such as the classic TS and Gordini variants) is a popular 1:32 slot car known for its detailed bodywork, chrome-plated window frame and functional lighting, designed for analog slot racing.
Main Features & Performance
Motor and drive: Equipped with a mild RX-41 engine (~14,400 rpm) with a 9-tooth pinion and 27-tooth crown wheel.
Driving characteristics: Average lap times of approximately 4.5 seconds on plastic strips and 5.5 seconds on wooden strips (often improved with optional tires).
Details: High quality paint, sharp tampo prints and bright headlights and taillights.
Tuning: Many hobbyists upgrade the model with aftermarket 3D chassis or better tires for smoother handling.
