The Scalextric C7005 Digital Chip (also known as Chip A) is an in-car microprocessor module used to convert standard analog Scalextric cars (non-DPR) to work on Scalextric Digital layouts. It is specifically designed to fit most F1-style and single-seater cars due to its compact size.
Key Features and Compatibility
- Function: Enables analog cars to race on digital tracks, including using features like lane changing and racing up to six cars on a two-lane system.
- Installation: The C7005 is a retro-fit chip, meaning installation requires hobbyist skills, including desoldering the original wiring and soldering the chip's wires to the motor and pickup braids.
- Compatibility: It is compatible with most Scalextric cars from 1957 to date that are not "Digital Plug Ready" (DPR).
- Scale: It is designed for 1:32 scale cars.
- Alternative for DPR Cars: For cars marked as "Digital Plug Ready" (DPR), the easy-fit chips (C8515 for standard cars or C8516 for F1 cars) should be used instead, as they simply plug into a dedicated socket.
- Motor Limit: Reviewers suggest it can handle motors up to around 21,500 rpm.
